Ayron Hardy named A-Sun “Player of the Week”
After two more stat stuffing nights that led the JU men’s basketball team to a 2-0 start, senior Ayron Hardy was named Atlantic Sun Conference “Player of the Week” on Tuesday.

The Birmingham, Ala. native helped JU extend its current winning streak to six with his second double-double of the season against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday after putting up a stellar stat line against Stetson on Thursday.

Hardy scored 11 points against Stetson in the 70-61 win, picking up eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Against the Eagles, Hardy posted 11 points and a season-best 12 rebounds with four assists, three blocks and one steal.

Hardy is second nationally and leads the A-Sun in steals per game, averaging 3.6 per contest. He is also seventh nationally in field goal percentage, hitting 66.1 percent of his shots from the floor.

“Ayron is off to a good start this season after working hard in the offseason,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “As a senior, we’re expecting him to be a leader and major contributions every time out.”
