JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Rice on Sunday at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.

The Dolphins (2-1) dropped the doubles point and saw the Owls take four of the six singles matches to seal the win.

Lina Xu and Juliana Umeki remained undefeated in singles play with impressive wins. Xu, moving up the No. 2 position, rallied to win in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Umeki prevailed in the No. 6 match, 7-6, 4-3.

"Rice has a good team and this was a good test to see where we are," said JU head coach Shane Wood. "While we're disappointed with the result, I hope that we learned from this as we continue down the road."

The Dolphins are back in action again on Feb. 10 at Florida State. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
