March 18, 2008
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Fresh off of its fifth straight win to open Atlantic Sun Conference play, the JU women's tennis team will step out of conference on Wednesday to face Big 12 foe Oklahoma.
First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.
JU (10-3, 5-0 A-Sun) has opened its defense of the A-Sun Championship by picking up right where it left off last season. The Dolphins have won 16 straight matches against A-Sun competition and enter Wednesday's match having won six in a row.
"We're playing well right now," said JU head coach Shane Wood. "Everyone on the team is contributing, with someone stepping up and getting us a point when we need it the most."
The Dolphins wrapped up their North Carolina road trip with a 4-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb on Sunday.
JU took care of business early, with Lena Willi, Tatiana Soldatova, Juliana Umeki and Fernanda Carrero winning their singles matches to clinch the win for JU. Carrero's win snapped a four-match losing streak, while Willi and Soldatova extended their winning streaks to seven.
