Women’s golf in 18th after first round of JMU Eagle Landing Invitational
The JU women’s golf team got off to a slow start as they posted a 33-over par, 321, in the first round of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.

No. 34 Chattanooga leads the 18-team event at eight-over par after posting a 296 in the first round. Florida Gulf Coast’s Briana Carlson leads the individual competition after posting a two-under par, 70, leading three players who broke par on the day.

JU got off to a sluggish start, making the turn at 27-over par, before righting the ship on the back nine, going just six-over par.

Melissa Magdor carded the low round of the day for JU, shooting a six-over par, 78, that included eight pars on her back nine to tie for 38th place.

Kristen Boettcher is tied for 51st at seven-over par after a 79 that featured seven pars on the back nine. Morgan Jackson is tied for 68th at nine-over par after an 81, while Jessica Williams shot an 11-over par, 83, to tie for 84th.

Meghan Hughes had the roller coaster round for the Dolphins, carding three birdies and four pars en route to an 88 and 95th place.

The Dolphins will start the second round on Saturday morning.
