Women’s lacrosse receives IWLCA Academic Squad honors
As the JU women’s lacrosse team arrives back on campus, the Dolphins have received Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Squad honors thanks to their 3.10 team GPA for the 2009 academic year.
The Dolphins are one of 52 teams being honored for their academic achievements with Hofstra, Stanford and Duke receiving Merit Squad status.
“Finishing our inaugural Division I season with a team comprised mostly of freshman, this is one of the best honors we could have received,” said JU head coach Mindy McCord. “It reinforces our program’s commitment to being leaders in the classroom and our emphasis on getting a great education.”
The Dolphins ended their inaugural campaign with an 8-11 overall record but finished third in the National Lacrosse Conference at 4-2. JU fell to Davidson in the tournament semifinals.
