Women’s soccer set for home finale against Campbell tomorrow night
The JU women’s soccer team will look to close out its home schedule unbeaten for just the third time in program history on Thursday night when the green and gold host Campbell at 7 p.m.
The Dolphins (10-4-2, 6-1-1 A-Sun) currently sit at the top of the conference standings with 19 points and have dropped just one of their last 11 matches.
“It’s great to be playing back home for our Thursday night match,” said JU head coach Brian Copham. “We’ve played well at home all year and we want to close out with another positive result.”
Junior goalie Alexa Rooney has recorded three straight shutouts and has posted seven clean sheets this season, good for second in the A-Sun. She also owns a league-leading .861 save percentage and is second in goals-against-average (0.92).
Redshirt-junior midfielder Liz Fink (6G, 7A) and sophomore forward Lisa Hensley (7G, 5A) are each tied for second in the A-Sun for assists (Fink) and goals (Hensley). Hensley's seven goals are just one behind North Florida's Lauren Hopfensperger's by one for the A-Sun lead while Fink trails just Stetson's Katie Bitetto for the league lead in assists.
The Camels (6-9-1, 3-5-0) come into tomorrow night’s match trailing ETSU by one point for sixth place in the conference for the last postseason spot.
Olga Ekblom has tallied a team-leading 12 points this year on a team-high five goals and two assists. Goalie Ryann Torrero has started her team’s last four matches, including two shutouts against Belmont and Lipscomb.
