Soldatova, Castaing receive A-Sun all-conference nods
Senior Tatiana Soldatova and junior Eve Castaing have each received Atlantic Sun first team all conference honors for the 2010 season.
Playing in the No. 1 spot all year, Soldatova fell to North Texas in her season opener before going on a 13-match winning streak where she dropped just three sets.
The Russian native’s only losses in-conference came against ETSU and Kennesaw State in doubles play. Soldatova recorded wins with two different partners, Castaing and Iva Jaresova, including an 8-6 win against ETSU.
“It’s great for Tatiana to get the recognition she deserves,” said JU head coach Shane Wood. “She’s been a crucial part of this team throughout her career and we’ll really miss her next year.”
Joining Soldatova on the first team, Castaing recorded a phenomenal junior season with the Dolphins.
After a season-opening loss to North Texas, the junior did not drop a single match for the rest of the year. The French native has lost just two sets during the entire season. In conference play, Castaing has conceded just 41 games, an average of 4.5 games per match. Only Stetson and Campbell took Castaing to three sets.
“Eve played unbelievably this year,” said Wood. “She’s put a great streak together and hopefully she can keep up the great performances next year.”
The Dolphins (10-11, 2-8 A-Sun) closed out the season with a 6-1 loss to North Florida.
