Women’s tennis sees winning streak end in loss to ETSU
East Tennessee State posted four wins in singles play and captured the doubles portion as the JU women’s tennis team fell, 5-2, to the Bucs on Saturday morning at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.

The Dolphins saw its seven-match winning streak snapped in falling to 7-1. ETSU improved to 3-5 on the season.

Senior Eve Castaing recorded one of JU’s two singles victories, winning the top matchup, 6-2, 6-4 over Kelly Holtzhausen. Castaing, who has played every match at first singles in 2011, improved to 7-1.

Freshman Flavia Nagayama registered the other singles win, defeating Marine Wieliczko, 6-0, 6-3. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native is the only remain JU undefeated player in moving to 8-0 to start her collegiate career.

ETSU recorded wins in second, fourth, fifth and sixth singles and won two out of three doubles matches to gain the additional point. Castaing and Gabriela Bartos teamed for a first-doubles win for JU to give the Dolphins a chance to take the tandem portion. The duo is 8-0 in doubles matches with all victories coming in the top doubles paring.

JU will next be in action on Tuesday when it hosts UNC-Charlotte at 2 p.m.
