JU routs Upstate, 7-0
The JU women’s tennis team swept USC Upstate, taking a 7-0 decision in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Upstate Tennis Complex.

Jacksonville started the match by claiming the doubles point, as Eve Castaing and Gabriella Bartos teamed up to claim an 8-2 win over Karen Martinez and Talia Rojas at the No.1 doubles position.

At the No. 2 position, Jacksonville's Flavia Nagayama and Natalia Melibeu were able to post an 8-2 win over Upstate's Maria Tonani and Ana Sofia-Camberos. The Dolphins were able to finish off the doubles point at the No.3 position, as Virginia Iwinski and Veronique Spencer were 8-1 winners over the Spartans Catherine Estupinan and Samantha Knopsnyder.

In singles play, Upstate's Karen Martinez put up a solid battle at the No. 3 position, but ultimately fell to Jacksonville's Flavia Nogoyama, 6-4, 6-2. In her first match at the No.2 position this season, Tonani dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Bartos.

Playing her fourth-consecutive match at the No. 1 singles position, Camberos dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Castaing.
