Josh Philpart named to preseason All-America team
Josh Philpart was named third team preseason All-America by The Sports Network, continuing his string of preseason honors.

As a sophomore, Philpart caught 54 passes for a school-record 912 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to becoming the eighth Dolphin in program history to record more than 1,000 receiving yards in their career.

The All-America honor continues Philpart’s recognition on the national scene. He was named one of the top 10 wide receivers in the country this summer by The Sports Network and is on the preseason watch list for the Wide Receiver “Performer of the Year.”

“Josh is a tremendous young man who is also a great football player,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “He has a lot of speed and quickness for his size and has really developed into a great route runner with the ability to get open when we need him.”

Philpart burst onto the scene during the 2009 season opener, catching six passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns at Webber International.

His season took off from there, putting up at least 100 receiving yards in a game four times during the campaign and finished the season ranked in the top 20 nationally in receiving yards per game, earning first team all-Pioneer Football League honors.
