Football reports for preseason camp

The wait is over for the JU football team as the Dolphins reported for preseason camp on Thursday morning.

Jacksonville welcomed 105 players to preseason camp with a move-in to the dorms along with an afternoon and evening filled with meetings to clear any hurdles before the first practice on Friday.

“We’re excited to get everyone back on campus and started for the 2010 season,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “The guys are excited to get back together with their teammates and know that when we hit the field tomorrow, we’ve got a lot to accomplish before we play our first game.”

SCRIMMAGE SCHEDULE SET: The Dolphins will hold a scrimmage the final three Saturdays of training camp, starting Aug. 13.

The first scrimmage will be held at Fletcher High School, starting at 1 p.m. The second will be on Aug. 20 at The Bolles School starting at 5 p.m. The final scrimmage will be on campus on Aug. 27 and will kickoff between 10 a.m.

“We’ve been spreading our scrimmages around the past few years and we’ve seen the interest in our program increase each year,” Bell said.

LOOKING AHEAD: On Monday, the preseason coaches poll in the Pioneer Football League will be released and the Dolphins are expected to be picked among the league favorites. Next week will also start the position-by-position previews on
