Men’s soccer reports to fall camp
The JU men’s soccer team will look to get back to championship form starting today as the Dolphins report for fall camp.

The Dolphins, whose first practice is on Saturday at 8 a.m., is looking to redeem themselves in 2010 after falling short of expectations during the 2009 season. Last year, JU was picked to win the Atlantic Sun Conference after winning back-to-back championships, but finished with a 5-11-1 record and missed the conference tournament for the first time since 2004.

This season, the Dolphins reworked the entire roster by adding 15 new players to the roster in hopes of winning another A-Sun title and returning to the NCAA Tournament.

“We are chomping at the bit to get going,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “Our goal is to show that last season was a small blip on the radar. We have a good mix of guys that can help us be successful on the field and hopefully secure a spot back in the A-Sun Tournament. Overall, we are ready to start working.”

The Dolphins will have two exhibitions to prepare beginning at USF on Aug. 18 before hosting Flagler at the Ashley Sports Complex on Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. JU opens the regular season at in-state rival UCF on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
