Football set to continue SoCon opponents
When Kerwin Bell arrived at Jacksonville University, he instantly started talking about playing the best teams in the country.

That streak will continue through at least 2012 as the Dolphins have signed contracts to play at The Citadel in 2011 and at national powerhouse Georgia Southern in 2012. When the Dolphins go to Georgia Southern, JU will have faced a team from the Southern Conference for five straight seasons.

"As we continue to build this program, we want to give our young men the opportunity to play against the best teams in the country and these two games are in line with that," Bell said. "The Citadel has a proven program that will be a tough test for our team. Georgia Southern is one of the traditional powers in the country and it's going to be a great experience for our program to play them."

JU's streak against Southern Conference teams started with a bang as the Dolphins traveled to face No. 1 Appalachian State in 2008, continued with a trip to Samford in 2009 and remains alive with another trip to ASU set for week two of the 2010 season.

"Each year we want to give our football program the opportunity to face one of the top programs in the country," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "These two games show our commitment to keep building our program to be one of the best in the country."
