Men’s soccer hosts Flagler in exhibition action on Friday
The JU men’s soccer team will use one more contest to shake off the summer rust as the Dolphins host Flagler for an exhibition match on Friday at the Ashley Complex. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The Dolphins are looking to build off last week’s tie (0-0) against No. 13 ranked USF. JU outshot the Bulls, 7-5, and narrowly missed two attempts in the final five minutes to win the match.
“We are excited to play on Friday,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “The guys are itching to get the season started. This has been a great preseason for us and Flagler is going to be a good final test before our opener at UCF.”
The Saints bring back 17 players a 2009 squad that posted a 14-6-2 overall record and 7-1 mark in league play to win the Peach Beach Conference title. They enter the 2010 season as the favorite to finish first in the Peach Belt again with 62 points (seven first place votes).
Last season, the Saints edged the Dolphins, 2-1, in preseason action after scoring a goal at the end of the first half and early into the second frame to secure the victory.
