Baseball hosts annual Alumni Game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
With fall practice in full swing, the 2011 JU baseball team will get its first competition on the diamond by hosting its annual Alumni Game at John Sessions Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.
The annual event, which continues to grow each year, will feature more than 30 former Dolphin baseball players against the newest edition of the JU baseball program. The game will run six innings to determine this year’s winner with the Alumni scrimmaging against one another for the remainder of the afternoon.
“I always look forward to seeing our former players come back,” said JU head coach Terry Alexander. “They get to relive old memories on the diamond and see the progress the program has made due to the efforts that they put forth when they were here. I’m looking forward to a competitive game and an extremely fun environment for everyone involved.”
With the growing number of former players making their way back to campus, the Alumni squad has given the young Dolphins all they can handle in the past few years. Last season’s contest ended in a 2-2 tie while the 2009 game was pulled out by the newest Dolphins (2-1).
All friends, family and spectators will be allowed in free for the event to get your first glimpse of the 2011 squad.
