Dolphins host Marist for Homecoming on Saturday
After a record-setting performance, the JU football team returns to campus for Homecoming and a date with Marist this Saturday.

Kickoff is set for Noon at D.B. Milne Field. The game will be broadcast on 1010XL, with Barry Milligan and Paul Spicer calling the action. Fans can also follow the game on ASun.TV.

Jacksonville (6-1, 4-0) has won five in a row and sits atop the Pioneer Football League with Dayton entering the final three weeks of the season.

“We’re playing well, but there is still room for us to improve,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “This group has come a long way and is playing at a high level. Marist is a young team that is improving each week and they are going to come in here focused on knocking off one of the top teams in the league.”

JU’s five-game winning streak is the second longest in program history and one of several lengthy streaks the Dolphins have going. The Dolphins have won six straight PFL games dating back to last season and has won seven straight home games – the longest streak in program history.

The Dolphins streak has been buoyed by video game-like numbers put up by the offense. JU posted a school-record 658 yards at Valparaiso and is ranked second nationally in total offense, fourth in passing offense and second in scoring offense.

Jacksonville’s defense is moving up the statistical ranks as well. The Dolphins defense ranks 19th nationally in rush defense, allowing 117 yards per game. Where they have excelled is in creating turnovers. JU is second nationally in turnover margin – averaging a +1.71 advantage per game.

The roll that JU is currently on has folks around the country taking notice of the Dolphins. JU is on fringe of the two major top 25 polls and is receiving some major love from the computer polls. The Dolphins are ranked eighth in the FCS by the Bilo Performance Rating, 14th by the Wolfe Rankings (used in the BCS rankings) as well as 25th in the Sagarin ratings.
