Men’s soccer places three players on Atlantic Sun All-Conference team
Senior forward Nedim Hrustic was one of three players to represent the JU men’s soccer team on the Atlantic Sun All-Conference team it was announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.

Hrustic earned first team all-conference honors, while junior defender Tobias Hottner was named second team all-conference. Fellow defender Martin Resch received all-freshman accolades to round out the honors.

“I am happy for the guys getting their honors,” said JU head coach Mike Johnson. “Obviously, Nedim led the conference in goals to get his award and we need some extra scores from him tomorrow. Tobias was a strong player and very deserving of the accolade. Hopefully, Tobias not getting first team will motivate him this weekend.

“Martin is one of the best players at any position on our squad. We have been excited about him since his arrival, while we also hope he can prove his value to our team in the conference tournament.”

Hrustic finished the regular season leading JU and the conference with a career-best 10 goals, including four multi-scoring games. He scored twice in wins against Manhattan College (9/19) and Alabama A&M(9/24), while also adding two goals to tie the match in the Dolphins’ 4-3 comeback win vs. Campbell (10/21). Hrustic also had the lone score in the loss to #No. 9 SMU on Sept. 26 and recorded two goals in the loss vs. Belmont (10/10).

Hottner and Resch each helped the Dolphins to shutout wins while manning the backline against Alabama A&M (9/24), UNF (10/3) and USC Upstate (10/17).

Resch also recorded an assist in the tie at Stetson (10/31) to secure JU’s spot in the A-Sun Tournament. He recorded his first collegiate goal in the win vs. Alabama A&M (9/24).

The Dolphins will be back in action tomorrow as they play Mercer in the first round of the A-Sun Tournament at 7 p.m. in Macon, Ga.
