This Week in JU Athletics (Nov. 15-21)
JU football player Colby Walden was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off another edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Colby Walden:Sophomore Colby Walden earned Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" honors after recording an 82-yard touchdown on the opening kick of the second half in the JU football team’s comeback win over Campbell, 31-24, to claim the PFL title on Nov. 13.
Men’s basketball opens at the arena - After a losing late to Miami, the JU men’s basketball returns to the First Coast to play two contests in front of the home crowd at the arena this week. They open the slate against Savannah State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before playing Florida Tech on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Women’s basketball opens at Swisher - Fans will also get two chances to see the women’s basketball team in action this week at Swisher Gymnasium. They play former A-Sun rival FAU on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and host Jill Dunn’s alma mater, Georgia Southern, on Sunday at 1 p.m. Like the men, the women fell late in their opener, 82-77, to USF.
Football learns its fate on Sunday - The JU football team did its part to try to earn a FCS playoff bid by winning the final nine games of the season to finish 10-1 and earn its second PFL crown in the last three seasons. On Sunday, they will learn if it was enough as ESPNU will be airing the FCS playoff selection show at 10 a.m.

Fall seasons are officially finished - With the weather changing, it also signals that most of the fall seasons are officially in the books. Volleyball, men’s soccer and women’s cross country wrapped up over the weekend, while the women’s soccer team was just inches away from securing its first NCAA Tournament bid in four seasons two weeks ago. Thanks to all of those who cheered those teams on in the fall and we hope to see you again cheering them on next season.
