Women’s lacrosse releases 2011 schedule
The JU women’s lacrosse team will look to build on its inaugural season in 2011 with a schedule that includes tilts against Fresno State and Oregon in Eugene, Ore. and a home contest against Florida.

The Dolphins will open up the program’s second season at the Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. when they face the U-19 National Team. After a two week break, the green and gold will play three home games in six days against Cincinnati (Feb. 13), Florida (Feb. 16) and Denver (Feb. 18).

“We’re really looking forward to this season,” said JU head coach Mindy McCord. “We are facing some strong opponents at the beginning of the season and we feel that it will prepare us for a tough conference schedule.”

JU will play its first games in program history outside of the Eastern time zone with matchups against Fresno State on Feb. 26 and Oregon on Feb. 27.

Returning from Oregon, the Dolphins will play their next eight games at home, splitting time between D.B. Milne Field and the Ashley Sports Complex. Nationally-ranked Vanderbilt will open up the home stand on March 5 followed by a March 9 matchup against Temple as part of a double-header with the men’s lacrosse team. Louisville makes its trip to the First Coast on March 12 with LIU closing out the non-conference schedule with a Wednesday afternoon game on March 16.

National Lacrosse Conference play opens up for JU on March 25 against High Point with Davidson coming to town two days later on the 27th. The following weekend will see Liberty (April 1) and NLC regular-season and tournament champion Longwood (April 3) closing out the home schedule for the season.

The Dolphins will finish their regular season with games at Detroit Mercy (April 8), Howard (April 9) and Presbyterian (April 16).

The NLC Tournament will be held in Davidson, N.C. on April 29-May.
