This Week in JU Athletics (Nov. 29-Dec. 5)
JU women’s basketball player Lynsey Paschal was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off another edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Lynsey Paschal: Senior Lynsey Paschal earned Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" honors after leading the JU women’s basketball team in wins against Howard (Nov. 23) and Hampton (Nov. 27). Against Hampton, she tallied 14 of her career-best 20 points in the second half and added nine rebounds to help lead JU to the win.
Men’s basketball starts A-Sun play - After leaving their mark in Alabama, the Dolphins return home to begin conference play at the arena starting Thursday. JU hosts Stetson on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. before closing the week against FGCU on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. The Dolphins picked up solid road wins against Samford and SEC foe Auburn during the Thanksgiving break.
Women’s basketball begins A-Sun play at Arena- Like the men’s team, the women will also kick off the conference schedule this week with their first set of games at the Veterans Memorial Arena. The Dolphins play Stetson on Thursday at 5 p.m. and round out the week on Saturday against A-Sun leader Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday at 1 p.m. JU is riding a four-game winning streak after downing Howard and Hampton last week.
Both hoops teams riding a hot streak- Since each dropping the first game of the season, the JU men’s and women’s basketball teams have won its last four contests to register a 4-1 record. Both starts are the best for the teams since the 2007-08 campaign when each squad went 3-2 in the first five games.

Women’s hoops’ stingy defense - The key component to Jill Dunn’s coaching style is a strong defense and it has been a staple during her JU tenure. Prior to this year, the Dolphins have held 23 opponents to less than 50 points in a game during the Dunn era. After allowing 82 points to USF in the opener, the Dolphins limited that point total significantly over the next three contests en route to holding their first opponent to less than 50 points as Hampton scored 42 points on 25.8 shooting percentage (17-66) on Nov. 27.
