This Week in JU Athletics (Jan. 10-16)
JU men’s basketball player Ayron Hardy was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Ayron Hardy: Senior Ayron Hardy earned Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" honors after leading the Dolphins to A-Sun road wins over Campbell (1/3) and Lipscomb (1/8). He scored 11 points against the Camels, while adding 16 points and a good defensive play in the final seconds in the victory against the Bisons.
Men’s basketball continues its hard stretch - It still doesn’t get any easier for the men’s team as they get ready to play three games in six days this week. They play at Belmont tonight before hosting USC Upstate at the Veterans Memorial Arena on Thursday. JU finishes the week with another defending A-Sun champion, ETSU, on Saturday at the Arena.
Women’s basketball hoping to break streak - The Dolphins have lost six of the last seven games since beginning the year with a program-best 5-1 start. After playing the Bruins tonight, they will host ETSU on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Arena at 1 p.m.
Women’s hoops hosts NCAA “Pack the House” game on Saturday - Despite the bad streak, the Dolphins have a title to defend as they host ETSU on Saturday for the annual portion of the NCAA “Pack the House” game. The first 200 fans on Saturday will receive a JU t-shirt, while kids under the age of 13 are admitted free for Youth Day. The team is hosting a special pre-game basketball clinic and pizza party for all Girl Scouts at 11 a.m. Troops wishing to sign up for the clinic can email Brian Freshley at bfreshl@jacksonville.edu. Last season, the Dolphins won the NCAA “Pack the House” contest for the A-Sun by selling out the UNF game at Swisher Gymnasium and hope to capture that honor once again.

JU hosts Baseball Celebration on Jan. 14-16 - The three-day JU baseball celebration will take place this week starting on Jan. 14. Former players can enjoy a golf outing, the christening of the new C. Peter Cost Pavilion at John Session Stadium and a banquet to round out the three-day event. For any further information on the event, a printable invitation and response card or on-line registration please call Nikki Swanson (904) 256-7402 or Josh Ellis (904) 256-7402 or log onto JUDolphins.com.
