This Week in JU Athletics (Jan. 24-30)
JU men’s basketball player Travis Cohn was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Travis Cohn: Senior guard Travis Cohn earned Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" by helping the Dolphins break their current skid with an 87-59 win at Kennesaw State on Jan. 22. He scored 24 points after going 6-of-10 on the floor, 9-of-10 at the charity stripe and connecting on three attempts from beyond the arc. Cohn also tallied three assists and recorded a steal.
Men’s basketball faces rival UNF on Wednesday - After getting some swagger back in the win at Kennesaw State, the Dolphins will head across the city to face rival North Florida on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The matchup will be another installment in the annual SunTrust River City Rumble battle for the Old Wooden Barrel. The Ospreys come into the game hot by winning their last three contests.
Women’s basketball stays on the road - The Dolphins will look to erase their heartbreaking loss to Kennesaw State on Monday when they play at Mercer in Macon, Ga. Following the matchups, JU will make the same trek across the city like the men on Thursday to play the Ospreys at 7 p.m. UNF won the final two games over JU last season.
Indoor track & field begins season on Saturday - The Dolphins begin the road for their sixth straight A-Sun indoor track & field title on Saturday at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. JU returns 17 athletes from last year’s squad, including sophomore Charlene Charles who took several of the major awards at both conference meets.

More spring steams in action - The tennis teams will hit the court for the first time under new head coach Justin Miles this week. The women open at Bethune-Cookman on Friday before hosting Florida A&M at home on Saturday at 9 a.m. before on FAU on Sunday at 10 a.m. The men’s team hosts UCF on Saturday at 10 a.m. The women’s lacrosse team begins work on its second season with a scrimmage game against the USA U-19 squad in Orlando on Saturday.
