Men’s tennis falls to S.C. State
The JU men’s tennis team started strong in singles play but came up short as the Dolphins fell, 5-2, to South Carolina State on Saturday at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.

Sophomore Jose Fantova earned the win in first-singles play, going to 4-1 in individual play this campaign. But JU still dropped to 1-4 on the season while South Carolina State moved to 2-1.

Fernando Bano Lopez recorded JU’s other individual win, posting a second-singles victory over Dymtro Kovalevych, 7-5, 6-1. The Bulldogs responded by winning the other four singles matches and taking two of three in doubles play.

Fantova has now won his last four singles matches, improving to 4-1 on the season. He also moved to 5-0 in doubles play.

JU will next be in action on March 1 when it hosts Presbyterian starting at 11 a.m.
