Construction of W.W. Gay Employees Pavilion begins at D.B. Milne Field
The construction trucks are back on the Jacksonville University campus as the building of the W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Employees Pavilion begins.

The pavilion will create a new entrance to the Ashley Sports Complex and D.B. Milne Field – starting with brick columns with black iron fencing, a brick permanent ticket booth, a donor recognition wall, as well as entry points and gathering places for fans. GBN construction is managing the project after Kevin Gray Design/Glen Dasher Architects designed the project.

“Thanks to the generous donation by Mr. Gay, Mr. Boree and their long-time Jacksonville company, we are able to start construction on the W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractor Employees Pavilion – which will be a tremendous upgrade and focal point for our facilities,” said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. “This is the first phase of transforming our north end athletic campus and while we are still fundraising for our new stadium projects, this entrance is an important part of this overall project.”

The pavilion will be the latest upgrade to the Ashley Sports Complex and D.B. Milne Field. Last summer, an AstroTurf surface was put in at D.B. Milne Field along with the Autrey Family Track. The Ashley Sports Complex also has seen a new prescription athletic natural turf surface installed and will see the addition of new stadium seating in the near future.

In addition, plans for a new soccer stadium are being drawn by Dasher and the announcement of that project is on the horizon.

“Thanks to our boosters and alumni believing in our vision for our athletic programs, we are able to make these additions which are critical for our programs to continue to succeed,” Verlander said.
