JU hosts inaugural World Golf Village Intercollegiate
The JU women’s golf team wraps up its regular season on Monday as the Dolphins host eight other teams in the inaugural World Golf Village Intercollegiate on the Slammer & Squire Golf Course.
The field features Atlantic Sun Conference rivals Stetson, Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate, as well as Cincinnati, Daytona State, Wofford, Charleston Southern and Florida Atlantic.
“We’re excited about hosting this event at a great facility like the World Golf Village and the Slammer & Squire course,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “This is a great event to get us ready as a final tune up for the conference tournament next week.”
The Dolphins starting five is experienced, with four seniors and led by a junior –Morgan Jackson.
Jackson leads the team with a 77.8 stroke average and has posted the lowest round of the year – a one-under par 71 in the final round of the Xavier Invitational at LPGA International.
Joining her in the lineup is the senior group of Kristen Boettcher, Meghan Hughes, Melissa Magdor and Jessica Williams. Playing as individuals this week are Alison Cornell and Carlie Gehlhausen.
Tee times begin at 8 a.m., with the Dolphins going off the 10th tee at 8:36 a.m. for their first round. They will start their second round immediately following the first round.
