Adam Brett Walker selected to weekly National All-Star Lineup
After notching his first career A-Sun “Player of the Week” honors, sophomore first baseman Adam Brett Walker got some national attention for his outstanding week by being selected to the National All-Star Lineup by The College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports.
The College Baseball Foundation releases its "National All-Star Lineup" each week, giving accolades to the past week’s top performers. The "National All-Star Lineup" is nominated by college coaches, staff, and baseball media contacts.
In four games, Walker brought massive destruction to opposing pitching staff’s ERA by registering a .611 batting average (11-18) with four doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI, 21 total bases, a 1.167 slugging percentage and a .696 on-base percentage.
“It’s great that Adam has gotten some national exposure,” said JU head coach Terry Alexander. “This is not only an honor for him but for his teammates and our program. I expect a lot more accolades for this young man as his career continues.”
Against Georgia Southern, Walker went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI to start out his week. In the first game against Campbell, he kept the water boiling by going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as JU rallied in the ninth for an 11-10 win. In game two of the series, he finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI as the Dolphins rallied for a 16-13 victory. In saving his best for last, Walker had a career day in the series finale by going 4-for-5 with three doubles and seven RBI.
Walker currently leads the Atlantic Sun Conference in slugging percentage (.719), RBI (51) and total bases (105) while ranking second in batting average (.418), hits (51) and doubles (15) and third in on-base percentage (.497) and home runs (9).
He is also making his way into the JU career record book in less than two seasons, tying Rick Scheetz (1978-81) for 10th in the home run list with 25.
The Dolphins (23-13, 13-5) will have the week off before hosting No. 21 Stetson for a three-game set at John Sessions Stadium beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The game can be head live on 1010XL with Joel Lamp calling all of the action or through ASun.TV and live stats by logging onto JUDolphins.com.
