This Week in JU Athletics (Apr. 25 - May 1)
JU softball player Sarah Sigrest was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Sarah Sigrest: Junior softball player Sarah Sigrest was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after winning this week’s fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Sigrest secure both wins in the circle in JU’ s sweep over FGC on April 18th. Sigrest allowed just one hit and struck out seven in the first game, while surrendering one run on four Eagles’ hits and three strikeouts during 5.1 relief frames in the night cap.
Men’s lacrosse hosts Duke - The Dolphins will have a tough one to close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting defending national champion Duke at D.B. Milne field at 1 p.m. The Blue Devils used a six-goal second quarter to down the Dolphins, 16-7, in Durham, N.C last season. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid the spring commence traffic.
Women’s lacrosse battles for NLC Tournament crown - The Dolphins will start their battle for the NLC Tournament Championship on Friday in Davidson, N.C. against Howard at 11:30 a.m. JU won the regular season title by out-scoring opponents, 139-51, for a perfect 7-0 play. The Dolphins also defeated the Bison, 22-6, in Washington, D.C. on April 9.
Baseball & Softball back on the road - The JU baseball & softball team will return to the road this week. The baseball team has a key three-game series at FGCU starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. After downing FGCU last week, the softball team will be at Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday in its only action on the week. They will host UNF & Stetson in their final two home games the next week.

Track & field returns to action - The Dolphins hit the competition circuit for the first time in two weeks with the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. Last time out, the Dolphins won 11 events to post 243 points and earn their sixth straight A-Sun outdoor title at UNF.
