This Week in JU Athletics (May. 2 – May 8)
JU women’s lacrosse player Morgan Derner was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Morgan Derner: Freshman women’s lacrosse player Morgan Derner was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after winning this week’s fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Derner scored four goals in JU’s overtime loss to High Point in the NLC title game on Saturday. Despite the loss, she finished with 53 goals.
Baseball battles busy week - The Dolphins will have busy week ahead of them with five games in six days starting Tuesday. JU will host #8 Florida State tomorrow at the John Sessions Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The Dolphins play at Florida A&M on Wednesday before starting a three-games series with North Florida on Friday. They will play the middle game of the series on Saturday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, home to the Southern League’s Jacksonville Suns (AA- Florida Marlins).
Softball looking to secure A-Sun regular season title - JU has a chance to lock up its first A-Sun regular championship and No. 1 seed to the conference tournament. They host UNF on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before playing Stetson on Friday at 5 p.m. JU needs to win two of the final four games to lock up the championship.
Men’s lacrosse competes in MAAC Tournament - All you need is a shot and that is what the men’s lacrosse team has as they compete at the MAAC Tournament on Friday in Buffalo, N.Y. The Dolphins play Siena on Friday at 4:30 p.m. If they win, they will play Marist or Detroit-Mercy in the MAAC Championship final on Sunday.

Track & field returns to action for two meets - The Dolphins will return to the track for two meets in the state of Florida. JU is at the UCF Twilight in Orlando on Thursday before finishing the week in Tallahassee at the Seminole Twilight on Saturday. The Dolphins are looking to build off of their strong results at the Penn Relays over the weekend.
