LEHMAN-MUNNEKE: Home at last
For our seven freshmen, it was the first time they got to experience our home crowd as a player. We had a really good turnout along with the well known crew team (known as the “Wrecking Crew”), who has always been supportive fans of our program. In fact they painted their chests and spelled out “Go Dolphins” and were sitting in the front row cheering us on for every point.
We also had a junior high volleyball team who came to watch us. This made us feel like true role models for these girls, since they were all looking up to us. After the game we signed volleyballs and t-shirts that they caught when we threw them out in the crowd before our game. It was really exciting to see the reaction of these little girls and how happy they were just by interacting with us.
With all of our fans help, we were able to defeat FAMU for our first home game. This was a team who was very scrappy that we had lost to a couple years ago, but we were able to pull out a win and sweep them in three this time. Then on Saturday, we traveled to play Stetson. Although this wasn't a conference game, it was nice to play against someone we are familiar with in our conference. We prolonged our three-game winning streak and came out with another three game sweep.
We plan on using the momentum of these last three games to continue our winning streak as we head into conference this Friday. Wish us luck!
