This Week in JU Athletics (Feb.7-13)
JU women’s basketball player Taneskei Richardson was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Taneskei Richardson: Senior forward Taneskei Richardson First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" by helping the Dolphins hitting double-double in two of the three home games last week. She had a career-best 17 points and posted 16 rebounds against Campbell (1/31) before putting up 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win against Belmont (2/3). She closed the week with 12 points and five steals on Feb. 5 against Lipscomb.
Basketball rumbles with UNF on Tuesday - Both JU basketball teams will battle with cross-town rival UNF on Tuesday in the Veterans Memorial Arena. The women will start at 5 p.m. with the men to follow. Both games will be televised regionally on Comcast Sports Southeast. After the doubleheader, the Dolphins will hit the road to play USC Upstate and ETSU later in the week.
Softball begins season on Friday - The Dolphins hope to build on two solid year starting on Friday when they open the season with the JU Tournament at the JU Softball Complex. They will host Buffalo and Bethune-Cookman on Friday before finishing with North Carolina and Kansas on Sunday. Both days for JU will begin at 4:15 p.m. with the second game starting 25 minutes following the complete of the first contest.
Lacrosse begins year two - Fans will get a chance to see both JU lacrosse teams in action at D.B. Milne Field this weekend. The men have a scrimmage on Saturday at noon against Limestone, while the women start their season on Sunday against Cincinnati at 1 p.m. The women hope to build off their positive result against the US U-19 national team on Jan. 29.

Other teams in action - The tennis teams will once again hit the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex this weekend. Both teams host Hampton on Saturday stating at 10 a.m., while the men play Florida A&M on Sunday at Noon. The JU men’s golf team will round out the action with the two-day Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday.
