This Week in JU Athletics (Mar. 21- 27)
JU softball player Sarah Sigrest was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Sarah Sigrest: Junior right-hander Sarah Sigrest was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after leading the JU softball team to a 3-1 win against No. 22 Texas A&M. The Daphne, Ala. native allowed one unearned run and just a leadoff single, while striking out five in seven innings to secure JU’s first win over a ranked opponent since 2004.
Baseball & Softball host A-Sun opponents - The JU baseball and softball teams each have key A-Sun series at home this weekend. The softball team begins A-Sun play against Mercer on Friday at 5 p.m. before hosting Kennesaw State the next day. After winning the series at ETSU, the baseball team hosts Lipscomb for a three-game set starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The baseball series will also be heard live all weekend on 1010XL.
Lacrosse with conference play at D.B. Milne Field - After an offensive onslaught against Long Island last week, the women’s lacrosse team is more than ready to start NLC play at D.B. Milne Field this weekend. They will host High Point on Friday at 4 p.m. and finish against Davidson on Sunday at noon. The men’s team plays Detroit Mercy at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. after downing Canisius in their conference opener.
Track & field is back in Orlando - For the second straight week, the Dolphins will be back in Orlando to compete in the UCF Invitational. Last week at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge, senior Ronnisha Hall posted a school record toss of 174’6” to win the hammer, while sophomore Akeela Bravo posted a throw of 165’6” to finish second. Senior Unique Singleton (56.2), sophomore Bienne Freeman (57.3), sophomore Joane Pierre (56.7) and junior Amalia Vogler (57.3) placed second in the 4x400-meter relay after running a time of 3:47.67 for the Dolphins.

Rowing hits the city of Brotherly Love - The JU men’s and women’s teams will take a trek up north to compete at the Murphy Cup on Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa. The Dolphins are looking to build off the good showing they had at the Governor’s Cup on Canal 54 in Fellsmere, Fla. last weekend.
