This Week in JU Athletics (Apr. 18 - 24)
JU men’s rower Bernard Vingilis was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Bernard Vingilis: Sophomore men’s rower Bernard Vingilis was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after winning this week’s fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Vinhilis helped the Junior Varsity 8 finish fifth at the Southeast Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regatta last week with a time of 6:11.20.
Baseball to host Hatters - The Dolphins will host Stetson in another key A-Sun series at home starting Friday at John Sessions Stadium. First pitch on Friday is at 6:30 p.m., while the marketing department is encouraging all to come out through the “Destress from Finals” promotion. The teams will round out the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
Men’s lacrosse heads north for final road game - The men’s lacrosse team will round out the road schedule against VMI on Sunday at noon. The Dolphins will need a win and some help to stay alive for a berth into the MAAC tournament.
Men’s golf at A-Sun Championships - The men’s golf looks to end the year on a high note at the A-Sun Championships this week in Chateau Elan, Ga. JU is in 10th after the first round of play, but look to move up in the next two rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Spring titles - Last week, two more JU teams picked up conference titles. The track & field team won its sixth straight A-Sun outdoor title at UNF to tie for the most consecutive championships in conference history. Women’s lacrosse locked up the NLC regular season crown with a 24-9 win at Presbyterian. The softball team inched a few steps closer to A-Sun regular season crown after sweeping FGCU, 8-0 (5) & 5-2, last night.
