USA Blog #17: Back to the States
We've left Latvia headed back to the USA with a layover here in Germany. Several people are drinking beer already - I guess it's 5 o'clock somewhere.
I've been talking to Jarrett Jack and Ben Smith on my Blackberry Messenger. They both were in a basketball tournament in Albany, Ga. Lehmon Colbert must have been there as well. If there is basketball going on in middle Georgia, Colbert is there!
As I sign off, one of the things I've been meaning to talk about is the male dress code over in Latvia. Tight T-shirts. Capri pants. White shoes. And, oh yes, the European carry-all. I'm glad Joel Lamp has not adopted this look!
I also have to recommend to all my former players who have a chance to play after college - GO TO RIGA, LATVIA (your social status will definitely improve, if you get my drift?).
All the players here are in desperate need of HAIRCUTS. I feel like I'm in the move Semi Pro.
Our flight to DC was good. Got some sleep, learned some Croatian and watched Hall Pass.
I had pasta for lunch, then later a ham and cheese sandwich with tomato chips...yeah that was big in Europe.
The United folks gave me a hard time changing my bag tag as I was running to my connecting flight to Atlanta - needed to make sure it goes to ATL and not JAX.
All the players are going their separate ways. They all look tired, but excited to back in the US of A.
Got to Atlanta without my bags! Had to go back after midnight to get them, but hey, I'm back.
No rest for the weary though. Off for a quick nap at my sister's house and off to the recruiting trail.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity. It's been a tremendous experience.
