JU women’s soccer player Jessica Cataldo-Ramirez was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the 2011-12 next edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Jessica Cataldo-Ramirez: Freshman Jessica Cataldo-Ramirez was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after recording three points in the women’s soccer team’s 2-1 win against Coastal Carolina on August 19. She scored the Dolphins’ first half goal before dishing the assist on junior Eva Leeper’s game-winning score in the second half.
Women’s soccer heads out to Colorado - The Dolphins have a long trip ahead of them as they travel to Colorado this week for two matches. They will play Northern Colorado on Friday at 9 p.m. EST before facing Colorado College on Sunday at 2 p.m. JU will look to build momentum after splitting in its opening tournament at UNF. They downed Coastal Carolina before falling to UNC Charlotte.
Men’s soccer opens the home schedule - The men’s soccer team will be the first JU squad to play on campus when they host UCF at the Ashley Sports Complex on Friday at 7 p.m. They downed USF, 3-1, in a preseason tune up and later battled to a 1-1 tie with Eckerd College on August 19. JU will also look to avenge its tough 5-0 loss to UCF in the opener last season.
