JU men’s soccer player Tyler Williams was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union “Athlete of the Week” to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.

Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" - Tyler Williams: Senior men’s soccer player Tyler Williams was named the Community First Credit Union "Athlete of the Week" after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Williams scored the first goal of the season against UCF which almost held up as the game-winning score for the Dolphins.
Football begins season on Saturday - It’s finally time for the football team to get rolling as they face The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Dolphins bring back majority of their squad that won the PFL last season with a school-best 10-1 mark.
Cross Country opens at home - The JU cross country team will have its running shows laced up and ready to go on Friday when they host the JU Short Course Duals at the old golf course on campus. The women run at 6 p.m., while the men followed at 6:25 p.m. The women’s team is looking to compete for A-Sun title again after it eluded their grasps last season.
Full slate of soccer at the Ashley Sports Complex - Fans can get their futbol fix with the JU soccer teams at the Ashley Sports Complex this week. The women’s team will play their first set of home matches against Furman (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Georgia State (Sunday, 2 p.m.). The men will host UMass on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Volleyball stays on the road - The JU volleyball team will see the whole state of Florida this week with the road games they have on the slate. They play at Bethune-Cookman tomorrow before going to Gainesville, Fla. on Friday to face Florida, Clemson and FAU. The Dolphins will round out of the week on Sunday against Florida A&M on Sunday in Tallahassee.
