Men’s basketball picked to finish third in the A-Sun
Coming off of back-to-back 20-win seasons and its third straight postseason appearance, the Jacksonville University men’s basketball team was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Sun Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday.

The Dolphins return five players who saw time in the starting lineup last year, headlined by senior forward Delwan Graham who was named to the preseason all-conference team.

Jacksonville was picked to finish third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll. Defending champion Belmont received 28 of the 29 first place votes in the media poll and eight of the 10 in the coaches poll.

“When you look at our conference, you see a lot of good teams that have improved each year,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “I expect this year to have a competitive race for the title again.”

Graham returns to the starting lineup for the Dolphins along with junior forward Glenn Powell, junior point guard Russell Powell, sophomore shooting guard Keith McDougald and senior forward Tevin Galvin.

“We have a strong group of returners that all have experience and know that we have to get better each day,” Warren said. “I’m glad that Delwan’s talent, hard work and effort were recognized by his peers with a spot on the all-conference team.”

Entering Warren’s seventh season as head coach, the Dolphins have not finished below third place in the last five seasons with two conference titles (2009, 2010) coming during that span. Warren enters the season needing 16 wins to become the all-time leader in wins at JU – surpassing the legendary Rollie Rourke’s total of 107.
