JU volleyball player Kathryn Kane was tabbed as the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week to kick off the latest edition of This Week in JU Athletics.

This Week in JU Athletics is a weekly feature to give fans the top five items of the week and a full list of all the athletic events so they can cheer the Dolphins on to victory.


Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week – Kathryn Kane: Senior volleyball player Kathryn Kane was named the Community First Credit Union Athlete of the Week after winning the fan vote on the JU athletics facebook page. Kane registered 10 kills and 12 digs in the Dolphins’ 3-0 win at Mercer on Oct. 29.
Football back on the road to play Drake - A well-rested Dolphins squad will be back in action on Saturday at Drake in Des Moines, Iowa at 2 p.m. JU will be looking to stay atop of the PFL as they look for its first win ever at Drake. The Dolphins knocked off Davidson, 56-13, in their latest action on Oct. 22.
Volleyball battles UNF for tourney berth - The volleyball team’s season will be on the line Friday at 7 p.m. when they host cross-town North Florida at Swisher Gymnasium. It’s a win or go home match for either team as they are fighting for the one of the final spots into the A-Sun tourney. The Dolphins end the weekend on Saturday at Savannah State.
Hoops season begins Saturday - Hoops season has finally hit the JU campus. The women’s team host USC Aiken on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Swisher Gymnasium. Come watch the squad as they embark on their quest for their first A-Sun Championship.

Other teams in action - The men’s soccer team will host Nebraska – Omaha for Senior Night on Friday at 6 p.m. The baseball team will have its annual alumni weekend starting Friday. The men’s rowing (Head of the Hooch) and men’s tennis (College of Charleston Invitational) teams will each be on the road.
