Dolphins visit the zoo
The Jacksonville University softball team took a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo this past weekend to participate in a community service effort. Twenty-one players and coaches arrived at the zoo ready to get their hands dirty Sunday.

Two players helped run the zoo train that provides guests the opportunity to take in the premises in a unique way. The rest of the team helped fill sandbags that were being used in the construction of a new butterfly exhibit. In total, the team helped fill 400 bags that will also be used to protect trees and other shrubbery in low lying areas along the river.

“It was a great bonding experience for the team, and they were excited to help … and see the giraffes,” said assistant coach Rachael Click.
