Florida defends Sea Best Seafood Invitational title
With three players in the top 11 and led by individual champion T.J. Voegel, Florida successfully defended its title at the 2012 Sea Best Seafood Invitational on the TPC at Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium Course.

The Gators won the 13-team event with a three-round total of 884, topping Liberty for the title by 15 shots. Voegel held off a slew of contenders on the back nine with a birdie at the 16th that was allowed him to seal the title.

Voegel carded a two-over par 74 in the final round to finish at even-par, 216, for the event – good enough for a two-shot victory over East Carolina’s Harold Varner, III and ETSU’s Rhys Enoch.

Host Jacksonville slid back into 12th place, carding a 25-over par, 313 in the final round. Jamey Salmon carded a one-over par 73 to finish in a tie for fourth at three-over par.

JU had a seven-over par 79 from Nick Torrance, an eight-over par 80 from Taylor Szyndlar, a nine-over par 81 from Brett McKinnon and a 10-over par 82 from Bobby Fredeking.

The round of the day came from ETSU’s Enoch, who was tied with Voegel for the lead until a double bogey on the par-5 ninth, his final hole, ended his round with a two-under par 70.

Florida becomes the first team to successfully defend its title in the three-year history of the event.
