Dolphins start homestand against Florida Gulf Coast
The Jacksonville University men’s basketball heads into the home stretch looking to rebound with some home cooking.

The Dolphins will play five of their final seven games at home, starting with Saturday’s home contest against Florida Gulf Coast.

“The guys continue to make progress, but we need to sustain our play for the entire 40 minutes,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “We had a close game on the road and know that Florida Gulf Coast will be well prepared.”

Jacksonville is coming off two losses on its road trip through Nashville last weekend, falling to Belmont and Lipscomb. Aloys Cabell was the star of the trip, scoring a career-high tying 22 against Belmont and chipping in with his seventh straight double-digit scoring effort against Lipscomb.

Tipoff is set for 3:15 p.m. as the second half of a doubleheader with the JU women. The Bono’s Barbecue Pregame show starts at 3 p.m.

OPENING TIP... - The Dolphins start a crucial two-game homestand with a matchup against Florida Gulf Coast.


-Saturday will be the 10th meeting in the all-time series, with JU holding a 7-2 lead. FGCU has won the last two meetings dating back to last season.


- Jacksonville dug an early hole and it proved to be too much to comeback from as the Dolphins fell to Lipscomb, 82-68. Four Dolphins scored in double figures, led by Russell Powell’s 18 points.


- Aloys Cabell has been on fire of last, scoring in double figures the last seven games. He tied his season and career high with 22 points at Belmont a week ago.

- The Dolphins are in battle for their postseason lives, needing some wins at home to get back into the race for a spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.
