Aloys Cabell named A-Sun Player of the Week
After putting up three straight 20-point scoring efforts and leading the Jacksonville men’s basketball team to its first win at ETSU, Aloys Cabell was named Atlantic Sun Conference “Player of the Week” on Tuesday.

It is the first award for the sophomore guard who has doubled his career scoring output over the last 11 games, scoring at least 10 points in each game.

Labeled by CSS broadcaster Matt Stewart as the “Jeremy Lin of the A-Sun,” Cabell posted 23 points in the Dolphins four-point loss at USC Upstate on Saturday before his 26-point night at ETSU.

The Atlanta, Ga., native was 10-of-13 shooting, going 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 4-of-7 at the free throw line in the 61-55 victory over the Bucs.

JU’s win over ETSU pulled the Dolphins within a game of Stetson for the eighth and final spot in the General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.

The Dolphins return to the court on Saturday when they host Mercer at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Tipoff is set for 3:15 p.m. in the second half of a doubleheader.
