JU women put win streak on the line
A home win streak that is growing to noticeable proportions will be on the line today when the JU women’s lacrosse team plays host to St. Joseph’s (Pa.) as part of a triple header at D. B. Milne Field at 12:30 p.m.

The women come into the game with an eight-game victory ride on the JU campus with the last loss coming about a year ago (March 5, 2011) against Vanderbilt. Since the beginning of the 2011 season, they are 10-2 at either Milne Field or Ashley Sports Complex.

The Dolphins are on a current two-game roll after the season opening loss at Florida. Since, JU has beaten Siena and Detroit by a combined 42-10 and help has come from a variety of players.

Against Siena, both Ali Hoffman and Jen Cosgrove scored four times each and against Detroit freshman Holly Ventimiglia had her second consecutive hat trick.

Senior Jess Hotchkiss has picked up eight ground balls while freshman Jess Worcester and sophomore Morgan Basler have combined to cause 11 turnovers letting the Dolphins (2-1) get their running game in gear.

St. Joseph’s comes in at 1-2 with its last lost coming against Monmouth, 10-9.

The Hawks are led by senior midfielder Grace Dinn who has 14 goals, two assists and three ground balls this season. Teammates Abby Ananian and Jen Peters have four goals each for the Hawks, tied for second on the team.

The game, originally scheduled to be broadcast on, now will be part of a free triple-header.
