Ventimiglia, Cosgrove net NLC honors
People say good things come in threes and a pair of JU women’s lacrosse players proved it as they were named National Lacrosse Conference Players of the Week.

Freshman Holly Ventimiglia is the league’s Newcomer of the Week. The midfielder, from Medford, N.Y., has come to find a place on her team and ahd back-to-back three goal games.

After scoring three against Siena, Ventimiglia registered three goals on three shots, two assists, a groundball and a caused turnover in the Dolphins’ victory over Detroit in their conference opener.

The NLC Offensive Player of the Week award was filled by three sophomores leading their teams by filling up the stat charts including JU’s Jen Cosgrove.

Cosgrove, an attacker from Stevensville, Md., had five goals, an assist, a groundball, and a caused turnover in the team’s 14-7 victory over Saint Joseph’s. This was the first five-goal game of her collegiate career. Against Detroit, she registered a goal and an assist. For the week, six goals on eight shots and on the season she is the pace-setter for the Dolphins with 12 goals on 16 shots.
