JU sand volleyball’s top flight of sophomore Kendall Courtney and freshman Cari Whitmire found some good momentum en route to earning Atlantic Sun Conference Pair of the Week honors.

The duo finished third overall in the Gold Bracket at the UNF Invitational to earn all-tournament honors for the Dolphins.

"Kendall and Cari had a great weekend,” JU head coach Michelle Collier said. “They have been working hard in practice to improve as players and as a pair, and it showed in the way they competed this weekend. They are very deserving of this award but so is everyone else on our team for pushing them and making them better day in and day out.”

Courtney and Whitmire recorded a 4-2 mark in pool play to the top bracket. After winning the first match by medical forfeit, the pair earned a 2-1 win (21-16, 16-21, 22-2) over UAB’s top flight in the quarterfinals. Courtney and Whitmire fall in the semifinals to Brittany Tiegs and Aurora Newgard from Florida State, 2-0 (23-21, 21-16).

The Dolphins are back in action April 10 in their final duals match of the season at Stetson in DeLand, Fla.
