Men’s cross country takes fifth at Invitational
The JU men’s cross country team put together a strong group effort to place fifth at the Invitational on Friday.

Sophomore Esteban Mendez led the Dolphins with a time of 18:23.10 (39th). Senior Jesse Brantman was the next highest finisher with a time of 18:30.90 (41st), while freshman Martin Crouse followed him within seconds at 18:31.81.

“We had some really nice runs today on the men’s side,” JU head coach Ron Grigg said. “Esteban ran over a minute faster in tougher conditions than he did last year on the same course. Martin Crouse had a big break through today. I am very proud of the men’s efforts today.”

Sophomore Matthew Outlaw took 50th in 19:06.07 and freshman Jason Acquaviva ran a time of 19:25.15 (58th). Freshman Taylor Fisher (21:25.89, 74th) would round out the JU runners.

The Dolphins will race again in two weeks at the UCF Knight Attack Challenge in Orlando on Oct. 14.
