Men’s tennis opens 2012 season at UCF
The Jacksonville University men’s tennis team fell to UCF by a score of 6-1 Saturday in Orlando. This was the first match of the spring for the JU men’s tennis team.


The Dolphins lone point came when freshman Richard Casagrande defeated UCF’s Matthew Gladstone 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Casagrande also prevailed in his doubles match when he teamed up with junior Fernando Bano Lopez to win 8-6.

Although junior Jose Fantova and sophomore Larry Condez were not victorious in their matches, they were competitive and forced a third set. Fantova fell to UCF’s Erik Brunskog 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, while Condez was defeated by Mario Samson 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The loss moves JU to 0-1 on the season. They return to action February 4th when they host South Carolina State at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.
