Jade Cargill named A-Sun Player of the Week
Two double-doubles in two road wins for the JU women’s basketball team helped sophomore Jade Cargill secure her first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors.

The Vero Beach, Fla., native posted 17 points, 13 boards and two steals as the Dolphins (9-17, 7-8 A-Sun) got their first series sweep at East Tennessee State on Feb. 9. Two days later, she led JU with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in the win at USC Upstate. She has eight double-doubles this season to rank fourth all-time. Cargill also is tied for third in the league in rebounds (8.2) and fifth in steals (52).

“We are extremely proud of Jade and the week she had,” JU head coach Jill Dunn said. “Our team put together two huge road wins versus two very good teams. Jade's production was a big part of our success.”

Cargill is the second Dolphin this season to earn the honor after senior Crystal Bell got the accolades on Jan. 3.

The Dolphins play at home against Kennesaw State on Thursday in Swisher Gymnasium at 7 p.m. It’s also the annual “Play for Kay Day” to help raise breast cancer awareness with the Dolphins wearing special pink uniforms sponsored by the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute (JOI).
