Women’s cross country wraps up NCAA South Region
Sophomore Joane Pierre and junior Bailee Hedstrom each ran for the JU women’s cross country team in the final meet at the NCAA South Region in Birmingham, Ala.
Pierre posted a time of 22:16.39 (85th), while Hedstrom continued her strong momentum in the final half of the season after running a 22:29.84 (94th).
“I’m really looking forward to the track season,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg.
The Dolphins ended the season with a pair of second place finishes (JU Short Course Duals, UF Mountain Dew Invitational), while winning the FLRunners.com Invitational for the second straight year on Oct. 1.
JU finished third at the A-Sun Championships, while Pierre (17:51.91, 3rd) and senior Susanne Klungtveit (17:57.75, 6th) each received first team all-conference honors.
Pierre also won the UF Mountain Dew Invitational and FLRunners.com Invitational to pace the Dolphins this season.
The Dolphins begin work towards their sixth straight A-Sun indoor track title when they compete at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on Jan. 29, 2011.
