Women’s golf opens its fall season at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate
When the JU women’s golf team begins its season on Monday at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate, there will be plenty of new faces in the lineup.

But the one constant is senior Morgan Jackson, who begins her final year as the Dolphins No.1 player after an impressive junior season.

“Morgan made a lot of progress last season,” said JU head coach Mike Blackburn. “I was pleased with her performance and the steady improvement she made throughout the year.”

Being the most experienced player on a young team, the Dolphins will be leaning on Jackson more this season.

“With a young team like we have this year, we’re leaning on Morgan a lot from her experience and leadership,” Blackburn said.

Joining Jackson in the lineup for the season opening event will be fellow senior Alison Cornell, junior transfer Gaia Olcese and fresmen Jessica Welch and Natalie Schmett.

“I’m looking forward to seeing this group on the course in tournament play,” Blackburn said. “We’ve had some good rounds in qualifying and this will be a great opportunity to see where we are.”

The first round is scheduled for Monday morning with the final round set for Tuesday.
