Construction begins on the Swisher Golf Practice Facility
Construction on the Swisher Golf Practice Facility has begun in earnest this week.

The new practice home for the Dolphins will feature a practice putting green of 10,000 square feet, a 10,000 square foot chipping green and two target greens that can accommodate up to 180-yard shots, as well as several greenside and fairway bunkers.

The facility, being built on part of what once was the JU golf course, will begin with the routing and building of the land this fall with the grass seed being laid once temperatures warm in the spring.

“We are excited to see the construction of this facility begin,” said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. “This is going to be a great tool for our men’s and women’s golf teams as they continue to improve. Thanks to the vision of Swisher International and all of our donors, this facility will be a reality this spring and will give our golf teams first-class, on campus facility.”

In addition, final plans are being drawn for a clubhouse that will house both teams with offices, locker rooms, team rooms, video rooms and two outdoor covered hitting bays with high tech video filming stations. Fundraising is near completion and the clubhouse facility should begin construction later in the spring/early summer.
